John Routledge (GTR - Return To Life p/b Streamline) and Lindsay Turnbull (Vector Racing) showcased their power and technical skills on their way to winning the Gosforth RC 12 on 27 July 2025. Wet weather before the start kept riders alert on the undulating and technical course in Northumberland.

Open Category Highlights and Results

Routledge took his third open win of the season after his time of 26:15 was 19 seconds faster than his nearest opponent. The veteran added another win to his collection, as Daniel Kane (Muckle Cycle Club) finished runner-up in 26:34 and Marcel Schubert (Zurbaran Racing) was third (26:40).

Routledge said: “The M12 around Stamfordham is one of my favourite North-East courses. It’s a rolling and quite technical course. A downpour before the start made it a bit dicier for good measure. I was super pleased to come away with the win beating pre-race favourite Marcel (Schubert). It has been a good weekend for GTR with the boys after also taking first and third in Levens on Saturday.”

Women's Category Highlights and Results

Veteran rider Turnbull was competing in her first solo open event of the campaign and posted a winning time in the women’s event of 32:02 – almost a minute clear of her nearest competitor. Lisa Baker (Muckle Cycle Club) finished second (33:01) and Freya Johnson (Gosforth RC) was third (33:11).

Course and Event Details

The M12S saw riders start and finish near Stamfordham before completing a 12-mile loop around the Northumberland countryside containing 149.8 metres of elevation gain.
