The inaugural PDQ Wentwood Reservoir Hill Climb saw riders take on a brand‑new 2.6‑mile course starting in Llanvair Discoed, immediately hitting a brutal 17% opening ramp before climbing past the reservoir and into the heart of Wentwood Forest.
A field of 25 competitors tackled the challenging and technical route, including a para handcyclist and three youth riders. Conditions were ideal, with dry roads and warm sunshine helping riders produce strong times.
The standout performance of the day came from Youth Male winner Noah Grey (Team Tor 2000 Kalas), who stopped the clock in 11:01 -remarkably less than a minute behind the overall winner Ed Slot (Sotonia CC), who took the open title in 10:04.
In the women’s event, Heidi North (360 VRT) claimed the overall female victory with a time of 13:13, while Emily Tregear (GKR Racing) secured 1st Female Youth in 14:24.
Riders described the course as both testing and technical, with one competitor comparing it to the iconic climb The Struggle - high praise for a brand‑new addition to the hill climb calendar.
