Thank you all for riding the event. Again, I hear a brisk Fen wind made the ride less than optimal; for visitors it should be noted that this is standard in the Fens. What we lack in hills we make up for in nagging, obtrusive wind.
Thanks also to all the volunteers that supported the event too. As always with our Ely events, we manage to pull together club members, friends and family to stand on the side of the road in oversized hi‑vis, all on the promise of a bit of cake. Of course, the cake makers and catering team deserve much thanks as well.
I was sad to miss the event personally, but a few highlights aside from the actual results:
Three generations of one family supporting the event, one of those at the start as ‘assistant timekeeper’ and in the kitchen — a truly diverse skill set.
22% of riders starting were female, not something normally seen in Time Trialling (mostly we are male vets!). Particular kudos to Tina at St Neots CC for assembling the team and for the work promoting the sport to women. I hope we made you feel welcome and that you’ll visit again.
Our youngest rider at just 13 – Isaac – and our more experienced Bob at 83, a mere 70 years between them.
15 clubs represented on the Start Sheet, from Ely to the West Midlands.
