In the Female Road Bike event, Susanna Benton, West Kent R C (35.08) took the win.
Conditions were almost perfect—clear skies and comfortable temperatures—but the strong breeze that helped riders to the turn made the return leg a real challenge. Overall, times were around a minute slower than last year.
A great crowd gathered in the hall afterwards, where results were displayed instantly via the CTT Live System, with times appearing before many riders had even returned. Thanks to Michael (Binz) Spicer for entering results at the finish, and to Dave Abbotts, Gravesend C C, assisted by Roy Canning, for their accurate timekeeping.
Plenty of tea, coffee, and cake were enjoyed, along with the usual lively banter. Huge thanks to Debbie, Linda, and Yvonne for serving refreshments.
Several club members continued the celebrations at the local hostelry to make the most of the glorious weather.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of C C Bexley, founded in 1966, and it was wonderful to welcome Bob Mellor, one of the club’s founders, along with his wife Wendy. Bob was a top time trialist throughout the 70s and 80s.
A massive thank you to all the helpers—marshals, pushers‑off, timekeepers, cake bakers and donors—whose efforts make this event possible every year.
And finally, thank you to Barry Adams, our Club Photographer, for the brilliant photos. The full set is now on our Facebook page and can be copied or shared-please credit Barry Adams and C C Bexley.
