Well….where do we begin….
As the excitement settles on GTR’s finest day, both in terms of results and organisation we can finally get to a race report.
Blue skies and a slight chill in the air offered the riders perfect May conditions in the west of Scotland for a TTT. The numbers were sadly lower than expected but by gosh, the quality was there with Olympians, hour record holders and multiple British champions on the start line.
The TT bike category was going to be a head to head between George Fox Cycling Solutions, Team Botrill Nopinz and the hosts GTR Return to Life p/b Steamline.
The man himself George dragged Olympian Matt Rossiter and birthday boy Jack Levick round to the Gold medal in a stunning time of 57 min 13 secs. In a huge upset, host club GTR with Rob Graham, Ray Wilson and Oliver Pemberton powered to the silver medal in 59 min 07 sec beating the favourites Team Botrill comprising of Rob Francis, Jake Sargent and Dylan Griffiths by 22 seconds.
The road bike category was taken by the Huub Wattshop superteam of world champion and hour record holder Dan Bigham, Olympian Casper von Folsach and super vet Simon Wilson in an incredible 59 min 22 seconds with Muckle CC in silver and Ayr Roads in third.
The ladies event was won by defending champions Team Botrill with Laura Davies, Laura Pittard and Maria Sparks in a superb 1 hr11min 41 sec.
Special mention to the mixed youth team of The Royal Albert CC, Boo Williams, Ethan McCallum and Leo Mullen who at 14 years of age rocketed round on road bikes in a time of 1hr 14 min 31 sec.
It was an honour for us, GTR to host this event and we thank all riders and helpers for making it such a great day and such a special memory.
