The Welsh 12-Hour Championship and VTTA 12-Hour Championship , hosted by Virtual Cycling Club on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Monmouthshire, saw Anthony Jones regain his Welsh title and Roxy Woodfield claim victory, proving their resilience against torrential rain and fierce winds on the iconic R12/16 course. As the last and only one of three 12-hour events in the 2025 racing calendar, this epic endurance test showcased grit and inclusivity, with the course set to host the RTTC National 12 Hour Championship in 2026—don’t miss your chance to conquer it next year!
Open and Women’s Victories
Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) reclaimed his Welsh 12-Hour title, covering an astonishing 300.54 miles in 12 hours, narrowly edging out Christopher Gibbard (FTP ( Fulfil The Potential ) Race Team) at 300.32 miles. Lee Williams (FTP ( Fulfil The Potential ) Race Team) finished third at 293.07 miles.
On Age Adjusted Distance, Jones led with 315.8 miles, followed by Gibbard (302.68) and Williams (293.07). Jones, a previous winner, said, “The weather was grim, but I held a 2-30 lead over Chris, survived a rough patch, and pushed hard in the final two hours despite the rain.”
Roxy Woodfield (Passion Fit) won the women’s event with 259.20 miles, outpacing Joanna Cebrat (360cycling) at 255.30 miles and Sarah Scott (Torvelo Racing) at 235.62 miles on a road bike. Cebrat topped Age Adjusted Distance at 286.06 miles. Woodfield noted, “The rain and wind were brutal, but my preparation paid off.”

Category and Team Highlights
Richard Bowditch (Congleton CC - MyWindsock) led the road bike category at 248.51 miles, while Sarah Scott also topped the female road bike standings with her 235.62-mile effort. The South Wales trio of Jones, Rob Powell (Team Bottrill), and Gibbard won the Group Team prize with a combined 986.10 miles.
A standout moment was the tandem tricycle duo of Mary Corbett (Sotonia CC) (AG 65-70) and Norman Harvey (Sotonia CC) (AG 90-94), who completed 174.66 miles, showcasing remarkable teamwork and endurance.
Age Group Standouts
Veterans shone brightly. In the open cateogry Nick Esser (Hashtag Coaching) topped (AG 55-59) at 254.70 miles, Paul Winchcombe (Chippenham & District Wheelers) claimed (AG 60-64) at 229.05 miles, Robert Jones (Cardiff 100 Miles RCC) secured 70-74 at 217.09 miles, and David Steel (Hereford & Dist Whs CC) dominated (AG 75+) at 140.17 miles. Brian Hygate (Fareham Wheelers CC) in (AG 85+) with 169.33 miles.
For women, Mandy Lane (Port Talbot Whs CC) led 45-49 at 217.18 miles, Joanna Cebrat topped 50-54 at 255.29 miles.

Course Details
The R12/16 course, near the Monmouthshire Livestock Market, bear Raglan. It features a 90.78-mile morning circuit west to Hardwick Roundabout, Abergavenny, east along the A40 to Raglan and Monmouth Tunnels, then via the A465 to a turn at Hereford. A 25.49-mile midday circuit follows, with 5 maximum laps this year, not 6 as in previous years, with a finishing circuit to maximize distance. The course’s mix of dual carriageways and single carriageways, offers flat stretches and rolling hills. This event was intensified by weather challenges, windy throughout the day and with a period of torrential rain on the finishing circuit.
