With events spanning Cambridgeshire, Cumbria, West Cheshire, and Scotland, competitors are chasing fast times and British Best All-Rounder (BBAR) points. From veterans to juniors, stars like Louise Robinson, Thomas Lee, and Chris Smart lead strong fields, with favourable conditions hoped for to boost performances at these CTT-sanctioned events.
ECCA Championship 50 on E2/50D2
Sunday’s ECCA Championship 50 on the E2/50D2 course in London East offers a key BBAR qualifying opportunity. Veteran Louise Robinson (Shaftesbury Cycling Club), with six open wins in 2025, is the Spindata favourite for the women’s field despite her first 50-mile outing this season. She faces stiff competition from Francesca Ryde (Leighton Buzzard Triathlon Club) and National 12-hour runner-up Kim Barfoot-Brace (Team Bottrill). In the open category, Thomas Lee (Team Bottrill), fresh from a Vive Le Velo 10 win (18:03), National 25 runner-up, and National 50 third (1:33:50), is tipped to lead. Veterans Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC) and Matthew Smith (Drag2Zero.com) are poised to challenge.
Wigan Wheelers CC 10 in Cumbria
Saturday’s 10 on Cumbria’s Levens course (L1015) promises tight racing after last weekend’s blustery winds hampered times. Simon Wilson (HUUB Design WattShop) is favoured to dip under 18 minutes on a perfect day, with Dean Callister (Aerologic RT), Basil Monks (GTR Return to Life p/b Streamline), and Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) in close contention. Juniors Liam Hewitt (East Lancashire RC) and Davey Allanson (360cycling) are predicted to break 20 minutes. Deborah Moss (Springfield Financial Racing Team) leads the women’s field, challenged by Samantha Howard (Liverpool Century RC).
West Cheshire TTCA 25
The West Cheshire CTTA 25 on the D25/23T course near Hodnet draws 74 riders on Saturday. Toby Williams (Velotik Racing Team), coming off a 49:14 at the VCC Late-Season 25, is the Spindata favorite, facing challenges from Chris Standidge (Total Tri Training) and David Griffiths (Oswestry Paragon CC). The women’s field features Gretchen Zoeller (Born to Bike Racing Team), Helen Tudor (Oswestry Paragon CC), and Sally Cunliffe (Velotik Racing Team), promising a competitive race on the out-and-back course.
SVTTA 30 Pinky Williams Trophy
GTR Return to Life p/b Streamline aims to dominate Scotland’s SVTTA 30 Pinky Williams Trophy, with Spindata predicting they’ll sweep the top six open positions. Chris Smart, after winning the Scotland District & SVTTA 50, is the firm favourite. Veteran Christina MacKenzie (Stirling Bike Club) is set for a close battle with Margaret McMillan (Deeside Thistle CC) in the women’s event, continuing GTR’s strong 2025 form.
Weekend Outlook and Age Group Focus
With calmer conditions hoped for after last weekend’s winds, fast times are possible, especially on the Levens 10’s speedy L1015 course. Age groups will see veterans like Robinson (45-49), Maybank (45-49), and MacKenzie (45-49) vying for honours, while juniors like Hewitt and Allanson add excitement.
