Halliday followed his Velo Club Baracchi 10 win on 5 May with another strong ride, beating Daniel Legg (North Hampshire Road Club) by over three minutes. Kevin Baumber (Shaftesbury CC) completed the podium.
Halliday said: “I was pleased to win this morning’s race as the Shaftesbury 50 has been running for a long time, with past winners including some legends of the sport, so it’s great to get my name on the trophy alongside them! My ride was a bit mixed, I had a few issues in the first lap that cost me some time, but I stuck at it and had a strong finish, so was pleased overall. Luckily the rain held off until the last 30 minutes or so, when the wind seeming to pick up too. Shaftesbury Cycling Club events are always extremely well run, so thanks to Phil and all the volunteers.”
This ride, Halliday's first 50 of the season catapults him into 3rd place in the Traditional BBAR open standings
Ryan Batt (Hainault Road Club) was fastest open road bike in 2:06:26, ahead of Jamie Bishop (Newhall Cycling Club) and Laurence Watts (Hub Velo).
