In its second year, the 2025 KRT women's only 10-mile time trial (TT) charity cycling event was a triumphant sell-out, with a reserve list of eager participants. Building on the success of 2024, which saw 54 women raise £963, this year’s charity ride in Cornwall welcomed 60 riders and raised an impressive £1,151.45 for The Mermaid Centre in Truro.

Empowering Women Through Cycling: Event Highlights

The women's only time trial brought together riders of all abilities, aged 14 to 70, from seasoned time trial competitors to those participating for deeply personal reasons—whether recovering from breast cancer, honouring loved ones lost to the disease, or simply supporting a vital local charity. As a popular charity cycling event in the UK, it showcases the inclusive side of competitive cycling.

As organiser Anthony Green reflects: "2025 brought the 2nd year of KRT's Ladies Only 10 mile TT charity ride. It was a sell out with reserve riders. This alone was an amazing achievement on the 2024 event with 54 ladies entered and raising a sum of £963."

Why KRT Launched This Charity Time Trial

Inspired by the growing number of women cycling socially, Kernow Racing Team (KRT) created this event to provide a welcoming entry point into competitive cycling. By offering a women-only race format, the 10-mile TT eased newcomers into the sport, fostering confidence and camaraderie. The impact was clear: several participants have since joined local cycling clubs, continuing their journey in time trial training and events.

Green shares the inspiration: "The idea behind this event all started when out on training rides, it was noticed the number of women out on bikes but riding socially. By organising this event it would give ladies a gateway into the sport. With their 1st opportunity to race being against their own gender to help ease their way in."

  • Over 20 riders took advantage of the “Come and Try” option, designed for those unaffiliated with cycling clubs.

  • Post-event feedback highlighted the ride’s unique blend of competition and community, with many calling it their favourite women's cycling event of the year, thanks to the race and the lively social gathering afterward.

Fundraising Impact and Future Plans

The Mermaid Centre, the beneficiary of the funds from this Cornwall charity ride, expressed their enthusiasm for the event’s success and are now eager to involve their female staff in next year’s women's only time trial.

KRT’s Ladies Only TT continues to inspire, empower, and unite women through cycling, making a meaningful difference in the community and beyond. Stay tuned for details on the 2026 charity cycling event—perfect for beginners searching for "women's time trial UK" or "10-mile TT rides."
