Teesside District 2023 Bulletin No 3

Welcome to the third of a series of bulletins to inform all riders and those interested in cycling to keep abreast of what is happening within the Teesside district and surrounding areas.

Teesside Competitions & Open Events:  The “2023 open event and competition booklet” which details the local competitions, together with the events programme has been emailed to all district CTT website users, clubs & organizers and has also been posted on various cycling orientated Facebook pages and the Teesside website.

2023 Open Events:  They are now available on the Cycling Time Trial’s website, as well as our local district website.  The events are also printed in the 2023 CTT Handbook, priced at £16 (incl p&p) which also, in addition to all the national records and championship winners, includes the rules and regulations under which the CTT operates.

Teesside Courses:  All Teesside approved course descriptions are included in the district course booklet, a copy of which has been emailed to all district users of the CTT website, clubs & organizers and has also been posted on various cycling orientated Facebook pages

New for 2023 A series of new events and road bike competitions have been introduced for the forthcoming season.

New events: 

2023 RTTC National Closed Circuit Championship on Sunday 8 October on the Croft Motor Racing Circuit.

Season Competitions:   In each of the Best All Rounder competitions and also in the SPOCO series, there will be separate awards for the time trial and road bike categories.

2023 Hill Climb Championship – On Sunday 24th September, Cleveland Wheelers CC hill climb on Ingleby Greenhow Bank, will include the re-instated individual 2023 Teesside Hill Climb Championship.

2023 ROAD BIKE LEAGUE:  The Teesside District are organizing an additional competition in 2023.  With increased interest in the use of road bikes in time trials, and to encouraging everyone with a road bike to participate in 2 × 10 mile & 2 × 25 mile time trials on Teesside courses.  There is the opportunity to enter the season long competition which also includes the 5 Croft Wednesday evening events plus the VTTA Closed Circuit Northern Time Trial Championship and the CTT National Closed Circuit Time Trial Championship. A total of 17 counting events. 

Details of all these competitions can be found in the 2023 open event and competition booklet.

2023 Croft Wednesday Summer Time Trial Series:  The remaining dates for the series, held at the Croft Motor Racing Circuit, just south of Darlington are:

                                                         Wednesday 10th May

                                                         Wednesday 21st June

                                                         Wednesday 19th July

                                                         Wednesday 9th August

You can enter on the night or if a registered user of CTT online entry system by using that platform.

The 21st June event includes the VTTA Northern closed circuit 10 mile championship, which again is an open event which requires pre-entry. (Sadly - No entry on the line)  This event is open to both VTTA members and non-members who are over the age of 40 years old. The normal come and try it event, open to all will start as usual at 6:30 pm.

The 9th August Event includes the Northern Juvenile/Junior Championship, which is open to all riders that are classified as juveniles or juniors.  All juvenile/junior riders who compete during the evening’s event will be eligible for awards.  No special entry is required.  Just turn up and register or pre-enter via CTT website.

Club Events:  The submitted 2023 Teesside club events on the recognized approved courses have all been approved by the district committee. Please remember that only those events and courses submitted and approved by the Teesside district committee will be covered by the Cycling Time Trials insurance.  A separate “Club Event” Booklet will be published in the coming days.
