Wightlink-Wight Mountain CRT’s Time-Trial Series returns wit

Starting in March and running until October, the nine-date series will this year kick off with three-person teams taking on the first team time-trial along the Military Road on Sunday 27th March

Following the success of last year’s time-trial series, which saw £1,500 donated to the hospice thanks to the entry fees paid by competitors and proceeds from raffles, the Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team’s time-trial series has been announced for 2022.

The first event will be the inaugural team time-trial on Sunday 27th March, with the series closing on the double-header of the Hill Climb Championships on Sunday 2nd October.

Teams of three encouraged to take part in first TTT

The 2022 TT series will kick off with a charity 'Three-Up' Team Time-Trial on the Military Road, with all proceeds from this event going to the Mountbatten Hospice.

Organisers are keen for teams from the Island and further afield to enter, but this event is open to all – and everyone is encouraged to get involved.

“Categories will be dependent on entries,” explains organiser Julie Cooper. “We're hoping that riders will get into the spirit of the event and maybe enter as a mixed team or Independent riders can get together with some of their chums to take up the challenge and have a bit of fun!”

She adds, “The teams of three will ride together with the finish time being taken when the third rider crosses the line, so it’s all about sticking together and helping each other to complete the route.”

Entry is now officially open so anyone wanting to race should email wightlinkrt@gmail.com with their team name and the names of each rider competing. Julie or Jerry will be in touch with payment details for entry fees.

Once riders have confirmed payment, their team name will then be added to the Start List. Unfortunately, cash payments on the day are no longer possible and refunds won’t be available – as the money goes to charity.

This event will be road bikes only. This is to ensure the safety of riders racing on the road in a bunch and to make it fairer for all those competing on the day.
