There’s a strong field for the Lea Valley CC 10 in Cambridgeshire on Saturday, one of several time trials taking place across the country this weekend.
Laura Davies (Jadan Vive le Velo) was third in last weekend’s National 50-Mile Championships, and she looks set to ease to victory in the women’s category in the event near Six Mile Bottom.
The other female podium places could be taken by Louise Robinson (Shaftesbury CC) and Hannah O’Brien (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning).
In the open category it looks set to be close with Spindata having Ollie Hucks (TAAP Kalas) and Sam Mcdonald (St Neot’s CC) separated by just six seconds, while Hannah O’Brien’s other half Matt O’Brien will be just a second behind, according to national rankings provider Spindata.
In Kent it’s the VTTA Kent Group 50-Mile Championship near Hamstreet, with Thanet Road Club’s Nic Fennell expected to be fastest more over three minutes, with Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) and Martin Kober (Abellio-SFA RT) also in the mix.
Of the women Victoria Smith (Alba Development RT) and Maria Sparks (Ashford Wheelers) are among the ones to watch.
Team Kirkley Cycles’ in-form rider Lewis Wake is among the favourites at the Vector Racing eight-mile event near Hepple in Northumberland on Saturday, with others to watch including John Bowman (Muckle CC), whose team-mate Lois Jarvis will be among the quickest women alongside Sarah Wilkinson (Blaydon CC) and Louise Burnie (Blaydon CC).
In Cheshire there’s a 25-mile event being staged by Weaver Valley CC and the Manchester and District Ladies’ CA near Lower Withington, with some strong riders down to compete.
Fourth at the National 50 last weekend, Emily Martin (Team Bottrill) looks set to take the win ahead of Lauren Creamer (Velo Fixers) and Alice Taylor (Congleton CC), while in the open category 360cycling pair Maxwell Hereward and Tristan Pilling look set to turn in good performances, as well as Casper Von Folsach (HUUB WattShop) on his road bike and Zurbaran Racing veteran Marcel Schubert.
Several sub-19 minute performances are expected at the a3crg 10 on Sunday near Greatham in Hampshire, with Jamie Whitcher (Bournemouth Cycleworks) and Chris Mcnamara (Sigma Sports RT) expected to be vying for the win.
Paul Burton (Paceline RT) and Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC) are also ones to watch, along with Simon Mcnamara (Sigma Sports RT) and Howard Shaw (trainSharp).
National Road Bike Champion George Fox (George Fox Cycling Solutions) is expected to win the Northampton and District CA 12.8-mile event near Cottingham on Sunday, with Peterborough CC’s Paul Pardoe said by Spindata to be just one second behind, while also on a road bike in Leah Cuthbertson (Onyx RT) who could be quickest female.
Elsewhere on Saturday it’s the Bristol South CC 50 near Didmarton in Gloucestershire, the City Road Club Hull 10 near Gilberdyke in East Yorkshire, the Okehampton CC 10 in Devon and the VC Norwich 25 in Norfolk.
Sunday also sees the Cleveland Coureurs and VTTA North combine to stage a 10-mile event near Crathorne, while the Westerley CC 25 takes place in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Border City Wheelers have a 25-miler near Cockermouth in Cumbria, while Legato RT stage a 10 in Warwickshire.
