Juvenile rider Leon Atkins is the latest rider to pen his name into the record books by recording the fastest 10-mile time trial in competition history for his age category.
We take a look at who holds the competition records and the target times riders will be aiming to beat next season.
Atkins recorded 18 minutes and one second in the Icknield RC 10 in August which was 14 seconds quicker than the previous juvenile benchmark.
Oliver Stockwell was also riding for Welwyn Wheelers when he set the juvenile competition record over 25 miles of 48-46.
The Evolution Racing Academy trio of Dylan Sage, Alex Coles and William Coles also broke the juvenile team competition record this season over 10 (1-01-45) and 25 miles (2-39-33).
Meanwhile, Izzy Sharp (Drag2Zero) holds the juvenile girls’ competition records over both 10 and 25-mile distances with times of 20-28 and 55-16 respectively. Sharp also holds the junior 25-mile competition record after stopping the clock in 52-25 two years ago.
Marcin Bialoblocki holds five of the men’s competition records with benchmarks over 10, 15, 25, 50 and 100 miles all in his name.
His 10-mile record dates back to 2016 when during his second open time trial, Bialoblocki stopped the clock in 16-35 on the V718 in Yorkshire – a course which has not been used since 2018 due to road restrictions.
The women’s 10-mile competition record held by Hayley Simmonds was also posted on the V718 in 2016, when she stopped the clock in 18-36.
The prestigious 25-mile men’s competition record also belongs to Bialoblocki who knocked 25 seconds off Alex Dowsett’s time to set a benchmark of 44-04 in 2016.
Two years later Bialoblocki knocked over a minute off that time clocking 42-58 on the R25/3H in South Wales – which was last used in 2019.
Simmonds also posted the women’s 25-mile record on the same course recording an average speed of over 30.3 miles per hour to set a benchmark of 49-28.
Bialoblocki and Simmonds also hold the competition records over 50 miles with times of 1-30-31 and 1-42-20 respectively.
Joanna Patterson (Wahoo Le Col) broke the women’s 100-mile competition record on her way to winning last year’s national championship in 3-36-31 – an average of 27.7 miles per hour.
Joe Skipper and Graham Kemp boast holding the men’s 12-hour and 24-hour records recording distances of 325.55 and 544.32 miles respectively.
Alice Lethbridge has held the women’s 12-hour title since 2018 when she recorded a distance of 290.07 miles. Meanwhile, Chris Murray (Army Racing) set a new benchmark in the women’s 24-hour of 490.2 miles in 2021.
The men’s tandem pairing of Adam Duggleby and Steve Bate have made their mark in the record books with benchmark times over 10, 25 and 50 miles.
Mixed tandem pair Ian Greenstreet and Rachel Elliott continue their dominant performances and hold records over 15, 25, 30 and 50 miles.
