Hot on the heels of the National 50 last weekend, this Sunday it’s the National 100-Mile Championship in Norfolk, with the winners from last Sunday hoping to secure the titles once again.
Both National 50 champions Adam Duggleby (ADDFORM-Vive le Velo) and Emily Martin (Team Bottrill) will tackle the 100-mile course near Mundford but will again face tough competition.
After puncturing in the 50, John Archibald (HUUB-WattShop) returns hoping for better luck, while former World Tour pro Alex Dowsett (Nopinz) is also on the startsheet.
Martin’s Team Bottrill colleagues Kate Allan and Alex Clay are still recovering after crashing out of the National 50, but others who will be looking for glory include Lizi Brooke (Wahoo Le Col) and Naomi de Pennington (Drag2zero).
Elsewhere, Border City Wheelers are promoting a 10-mile and 25-mile event on Saturday and Sunday respectively, in Cumbria. The National Emergency Services Championship is combined across both events.
GTR-Return to Life team-mates Chris Smart, Dougie Watson and Marc Anderson are all expected to do well, while Sunday’s 25-miler also has Marcel Schubert (Darlington CC) in action.
Nic Fennell (Thanet RC) will be in action at the VTTA Kent 50-mile event near Hamstreet and is tipped by Spindata to win by a big margin, with Peter Robertson (Lea Valley CC) also aiming for the podium.
Legato Race Team are staging a 10-mile event near Tamworth in Staffordshire on Sunday.
Lauren Creamer (Velo Fixers) and Deb Hutson-Lumb (Wrekinsport CC) are set to compete for the women’s win, while David Mead (Lutterworth Cycle Centre) and Robert Gibbons (Hinckley CRC) are listed as favourites by Spindata. Nick Giles (Pocomotion RC) and Chris Sidney (Coalville Wheelers) are listed as contenders in the road bike category.
Team Kirkley Cycles team-mates Lewis Wake and Adam Smith are among the favourites for the Northumberland and Durham CA 10-mile Championship staged by Derwentside CC near Edmundbyers on Sunday.
Their team-mate Joanne Rea is also tipped to win the women’s title.
Saturday sees a host of top riders tackling the 10-mile Cambourne course in Cambridgeshire, staged by Lea Valley CC.
Spindata suggests that 12 riders might go under the 20-minute mark, with two expected to go under 19 minutes – James Jenkins (Richardsons-Trek) and Alex Pritchard (HUUB-WattShop).
Others to watch for include Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas) and Piotr Zulawski (Cambridge CC), while Becky Ridge (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) and Anastasia Bowler (Wahoo Le Col) will compete for the women’s prize.
Elsewhere, Virtual CC are holding a 25-mile event near Raglan in Monmouthshire on Sunday, while Reading CC host a 25-mile event which doubles up as the Inter-Services Championship at Aldermaston in Berkshire.
