Former World Tour professional Alex Dowsett (Nopinz) is on the startsheet for the Leo 30-mile event this Saturday, one of many time trials taking place across the country this weekend.

The 34-year-old has entered the road bike category at the event near Six Mile Bottom in Cambridgeshire, and will be hoping for better luck than he had last weekend when a puncture ended his ride at the Maldon and District CC event.

National ranking system Spindata has him down to win by several minutes, with HUUB-WattShop’s Alex Pritchard tipped for second, and Newmarket C&TC’s Kerry Brennand is expected to be fastest female on a road bike.

Battling for honours in the time trial machine category are Jack Levick (Rose RT) and Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) to name just two, although Dowsett should be faster than anyone on a time trial bike too.

And it could be close in the women’s time trial bike category, with Bedfordshire Roads CC rider Miriam Taylor-Carter and Susan Triplow (CC Sudbury) expected to be close.

Elsewhere on Saturday, it’s the North Road CC 25-miler in Bedfordshire, near Wrestlingworth.

Lauren Creamer of Velo Fixers is tipped to be fastest female, but Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC) will be hard to beat.

Of the men Rob Walker (WardPerformanceUK.com is expected to be fastest, with TMG Horizon siblings Luke and Ross Clarke will be battling for victory too.

Near Abergavenny it’s the Bike Pace 50, with Port Talbot Wheelers’ Ben Jones and namesake Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) tipped to get the win. Emma Bexson (Stratford CC) is expected to win the women’s category, while the road bike category should see a win for Ludlow CC’s Robbie Disney.

Sunday sees another 50-mile event, with Reading CC the hosts near Aldermaston in Berkshire which is in memory of David Gaida and uses a course between Theale and Colthrop.

The West Cheshire TTA and the Shropshire CCA have teamed up to promote a 30-mile event near Waters Upton in Shropshire on Sunday, with Grant Bigham (HUUB-WattShop) expected to do well, along with Velotik RT colleagues Toby Williams and David Parkin.

Wrekinsport CC’s Deb Hutson-Lumb is tipped for the women’s win by Spindata, with others to watch include Paramount CRT’s Hayley Wells and Joy Payne (High Wycombe CC).

Border City Wheelers are staging a 27-mile event using the Caldbeck circuit in Cumbria, and there could be a good battle for the win between Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) and Richard Nesfield (Giant Kendal Sidas.uk).

Elsewhere Teesdale CRC are holding a 20.7-mile sporting circuit near Staindrop in County Durham, while just up the road it’s the Zeus CRT 10-mile event near East Hartford in Northumberland.
