Photo: The fastest riders from across the country will meet in Yorkshire this Bank Holiday weekend to fight for the prestigious National 10-mile Championship honours.
A weekend packed full of action on the B1230 between Scalby and Howden will see the women and juniors compete on Saturday before the men take to the course on Sunday.
Reigning 10-mile champion Christopher Fennell (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz) will start last out of the 126 senior men but is expected to have a tough battle on his hands.
Fennell has already won the National 25, 50 and Circuit Championships this season but was a non-finisher at the National 100-mile Championships last month.
Fennell celebrates his 27th birthday on Saturday and will want to bring another national title home from Yorkshire.
Spindata predicts a big battle for the podium positions with the top 13 riders predicted to be separated by under one minute.
Richard Bussell (Aerocoach) is their pick to take the title after showing his form by winning the Sportzmad 10 last weekend in a time of 17-51.
Spindata predict that Willam Perrett (Ward WheelZ) will share second place with veteran Ashley Cox (Team Bottrill).
On Saturday the women will do battle with reigning champion Hayley Simmonds (CAMS Racing) absent so a new name will be on the trophy.
Last year’s runner-up and this year’s National 100-mile Champion Joanna Patterson (Wahoo Endurance Zone p/b Le Col) will start as scratch rider.
Patterson comes down from Scotland full of confidence after posted a winning time of 21-06 to win on the WW10/03 last weekend.
However, she will have to be top form to take the title. Spindata predicts that honours will go to in-form rider Kate Allen (Team Bottrill).
National 50-mile Champion Allen also showed her form last weekend beating all the men at the Newbury Velo 15 winning in 30-20.
Emily Meakin (AWOL O’Shea Worx) won the 10-mile title in 2020 and returns looking to regain her crown.
The juniors will also compete for honours on Saturday with Sophie Heighton (Ferryhill Whs) starting last girl and Patrick Casey (Team Lifting Gear Products) the final boy.
For those not making the trip north to Yorkshire, ...A3crg team-mates Angela Carpenter and Eva Zsigoova will battle out for women’s honours at the Sussex CA 10 on Saturday.
Chris Coxon (Brighton Mitre CC) is predicted to go fastest in the men’s field ahead of Matthew Smith (Team TMC) and Kevin Tye (VeloRefined Rule 5).
A big field of 100 riders are set to compete in Sunday’s Royal Dean Forest CC 25 taking place in South Wales.
Veteran Conrad Moss (Primera-Teamjobs) is unbeaten with 10 wins to his name this season but will face a tough challenge on the R25/7 between Monmouth and Usk.
Spindata predicts that Moss will post 47-43 to win ahead of local rider Christopher Gibbard (Bynea Cycling Club) in second and Samuel Wadsley (Primera-Teamjobs) taking third.
Meanwhile, Claire Emons (...a3crg) is predicted to head the women’s field ahead of Joanna Jago (Performance Cycles CC).
