THE Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend offers four consecutive days of action with a range of events to whet the appetite.
Starting the long weekend with a bang, the Brighton Mitre CC 10 offers a standard and hilly 10-mile time trial on Thursday.
The following day National 24-hour Champion Christina Murray (Army Cycling) will make the long trip from her Glasgow home to Shropshire to compete in the Anfield Bicycle Club 100.
Veteran Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) starts as scratch rider having won the Rossendale RC hilly 50 last month.
He will face tough competition from David Parkin (Chorley Cycling Club) who has two wins to his name in recent weeks.
A big field of 109 riders will compete for honours in the Cambridge CC (Viking 50) also taking place on Friday near Cambourne.
Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) has won all his six events this season and starts as last man.
John Wingfield (Team HUUB) posted 48-15 on his way to winning the ECCA Championships 25 last month and is one of many riders who could challenge for victory.
In the women’s event Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) will start last and face competition from Claire Emons (…A3crg) amongst others.
A large field is set to gather on Saturday for the VTTA East Midlands 25 on the fast A46 in Nottinghamshire.
Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) starts as last man after posting a time of 47-50 on his way to second in the Melton Olympic CC 25 last month on the same course.
Spindata predicts a victory for Levick in a time of 48-18 but they predict a tough battle with veteran Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas) predicted to be just five seconds back.
In the women’s field Denise Burrows (AeroCoach) and Sue Cheetham (North Lancashire Road Club) will be amongst the challengers.
A Time Trial Centenary event takes place on Sunday as part of the Bynea CC 25 on road bikes.
SheHair Racing Team riders Phil Barnes and Sharon Clifford start as the last man and women riders respectively hoping to win the centenary glassware in the out and back event between Llandovery and Llandeilo.
In the time trial bike standard event veteran Christopher Gibbard (Bynea Cycling Club) starts as last man looking for a fourth victory of the season.
The women’s event sees under-23 rider Caitlin Peters (trainSharp Development Team) take on the more experienced Bush Healthcare CRT duo of Susan Shook and Clare Greenwood.
Taking place on Sunday in the North East is the Vector Racing 25 including the Northumberland & Durham Cycling Association 25-mile Championships.
Host club rider Keith Murray starts as scratch man but will have to fend off the challenge of Vector Racing team-mate Lewis Timmins and Lewis Wake (Team Kirkley Cycles).
The women’s event is also set to be keenly contested with Anna Weaver (Team Kirkley Cycles) starting as last woman while Louise Burnie (Blaydon CC) and Vickey Gibbs (Reifen Racing) could also provide a challenge.
