Photo: A competitive field of 71 riders will fight it out for honours in the RTTC National 12 Hour Championship taking place on Sunday in Norfolk.
Last year’s 12-hour winners Adam Wild and Christina Mackenzie are both absent meaning the championship trophy will have a new home this year.
In the men’s event the runner-up in 2019 Brian Fogarty (Fogartys Insurance Tri Team) will be hoping to take his first championship title.
Last year Fogarty recorded a distance of 294.03 miles finishing just over a mile behind winner Wild.
This season Fogarty has ridden 10 and 25-mile events with his best finish coming with a second in the Barrow Central Wheelers 21.
Jonathan Shubert (FTP Fulfil The Potential Racing) finished a narrow third last season and will return with good form after finishing third in the B.D.C.A 50 earlier this month.
The course sees riders compete along the A1 starting near Attleborough before moving on to the Browick Interchange Circuit and then Croxton Interchange Circuit before completing a finishing circuit.
The first rider starts at 6am on Sunday morning while Lee Williams (North Hampshire RC) starts as scratch man fresh from finishing second in the National 24 Hour Championships two weeks earlier.
Tommy Murray (GS Metro) takes on his first 12-hour event after a successful season so far which saw him take second in the third round of the Merlin Cycles Classic Series.
Ross Holland (Saint Piran) is also likely to be a challenger after finishing third in the National 100 earlier this month but will be competing in the 12-hour for the first time.
The 12-hour championships also incorporates the VTTA Championships which have attracted a host of riders who could also use their experience to challenge for overall honours.
Philip Kennell (GS Metro), Chris Tye (Plomesgate CC) and Tim McEvoy (FTP Fulfil The Potential Racing).
In the women’s event last year’s winner MacKenzie is absent but third place rider Joanna Cebrat (Bury Clarion CC) will return to battle for honours.
The 42-year-old veteran rider has been tested over 100 miles already this season finishing fifth in the North Lancashire Time Trial Association 100 last month clocking 4-15-26.
Kim Barfoot-Brace (Bath Cycling Club) could also provide some tough opposition having recorded 4-04-19 in the B.D.C.A 100 last season.
Another veteran who could also use her experience to challenge for honours is Lisa Davies (DRAG2Zero).
