Photo: With just a week until the National 25 Mile Championships final preparations will be made this weekend.
The Stretford Wheelers Centennial 25 has attracted a strong field headed by veteran Simon Wilson (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling).
Adam Duggleby (Almerico Vive Le Velo) will be amongst his rivals on the looped course around the Cheshire countryside.
The West Kent RC 25 has also attracted a strong set of entrants with Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC) and Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Rule 5) set to test their form on the route which heads over to Canterbury and then an out and back leg down to Ashford.
Final preparations will also be made in the Verulam CC 25 taking place on an out and back course down the A1 near Biggleswade.
Elsewhere, some 119 solo riders will battle it out on B1230 for the VTTA Yorkshire 10 with Mark Wolstenholme (Team Swift) going off as scratch man.
After taking a convincing victory on his last outing Harry Tanfield (AG2R La Mondiale) goes off as last man in the ECCA 25 in Norfolk on the A11.
Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) will be looking to continue his good form when he competes in the Sussex CA 15 on Saturday on the out and back course which includes a climb out of Steyning on the return leg.
He will face competition in the form of brother Simon McNamara (HuntbikeWheels.com) along with James Rix (Team Bottrill).
Lloyd Chapman (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) goes off as scratch man in the DAP CC 10 in Suffolk when he will face the challenge of talented youngster Timothy Torrie (TBW23 Stuart Hall Cycling P/B Trainsharp).
Hill climb season is well underway and Bexy Dew (Army Cycling) will be hoping to continue her form in the Cotswolds in the Sodbury Cycle Sport event the Wootton Hill Climb.
In the men’s category Andrew Feather (HuntBikeWheelers.com) has been in dominant form with five wins to his name already this season.
He goes as last man in the Solihull 2-stage Hill Climb with the Saintbury (8%) and Dovers (10%) climbs to be tackled.
Cameron Biddle (Vredestein Basso) and Leon Wright (Race Hub) could push Feather on the shallower climbs while Rebecca Richardson (Team Brother UK) will target victory in the women’s event.
A huge field of 102 riders will take on the Leith Hill climb in Surrey as part of the Kingstone Wheelers HC titled the John Bornhoft Hill Climb.
Both the men’s and women’s fields are set to provide fierce competition over the climb which has a maximum gradient of 13.6 per cent.
National Hill Climb Champion Ed Laverack (VAMos.cc) will be hoping to repeat his win last weekend when he goes off as last man in the Minehead CC event over four miles up the Porlock Toll Road.
With 120 entrants Laverack will face tough opposition from a host of riders including Max Steadman (HuntBikeWheels.com) and George Kimber (Spirit Tifosi RT).
Meanwhile, the Team Sportslab hill climb takes place over 0.8 miles in Lincolnshire when Madeline Gammons (Team Boompods) will be looking for another victory.
Former National Hill Climb Champion Adam Kenway (Vitus Pro Cycling) will be looking for his first victory of the season in the East Lancs RC two-stage hill climb event.
Joe Parker (Blazing Saddles) gets his hill climb campaign underway when he starts as last man in his host club’s event on the Knights Hill near Goodwood.
Finally the Birdwell Wheelers event on Well Hill Road will see Andy Nichols (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles in Motion) looking for his first victory of the season.
A full field of 120 riders will battle it out for honours in the VTTA National 15 Mile Championships this weekend.
After finishing fastest veteran in the VTTA National 50 last month Matthew Bottrill (Team Bottrill) will go off last man on the out and back course which includes a triangle between the A53 and A442 on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border.
The British Emergency Services 10 and 25 Championships will be fought out in Scotland over the weekend.
Riders start with a rolling 10 on the rolling out and back WW10/03 course near Irvine followed by the 25 on the WW25/03 the following morning.
Dean Robson (Velo Sport Jersey) starts as scratch rider in the Northover Vets Team 21 which includes the Royal Navy Championship starting outside the Norton Manor Camp in Somerset.
After smashing a course record last weekend Steve Lampier (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) will be the one to watch in the Tavistock Wheelers 10.
The point to point New Forest 10 will see a big field compete on the course which starts near Lyndhurst with junior Thomas Day (Zannata Galloo Team) going off as last man.
