Photo: Jonathan Shubert and Michelle Lee were fastest male and female respectively as the Burton and District CA staged a 100-mile time trial on Saturday.
One of the last qualifying events for the British Best All-Rounder competition, the BDCA event saw Arctic Aircon RT rider Shubert clock an impressive 3-19-58 to take the win by almost six minutes from Tim McEvoy (Giant Helston).
And Michelle Lee (PDQ Cycle Coaching) covered the Etwall-Uttoxeter course in 3-48-23 to win the women’s event by more than ten minutes from Crystal Spearman (Born to Bike).
Elsewhere, there were some lightning fast times in the Port Talbot Wheelers 25 near Rhigos in South Wales, with Chris Boddy (AeroCoach) taking the overall win with 45-08.
That gave him the win by more than two minutes from Alex Royle (Manchester BC), while Vicky Gill led a one-two for Drag2zero with a time of 50-02, 1-33 quicker than team-mate Alice Lethbridge.
In Lincolnshire Billy Jarish (Rose Race Team) won the Lincolnshire RRA 25-mile event near Ingham on Sunday. His time of 54-05 gave him victory by around a minute and a half from Sean Hunt (Lincoln Wheelers), while fastest female was Charlotte Marshall (RNRMCA) with 1-03-16.
And in Berkshire the Maidenhead and District CC 29.5-mile event was won by Didcot Phoenix rider Henry Latimer in a time of 1-06-12, while quickest woman was Katie Greves (Cowley Road Condors) who secured sixth overall with a time of 1-18-55.
Latimer’s time was 1-15 better than the old course record, while Greves similarly was 1-43 faster than the old mark for the women’s course record.
In hill-climbing reigning national champion Andrew Feather (Champion System UK) won both the Dursley RC and Somerset RC events last weekend with course record performances.
He clocked 4.25 for the Dursley RC climb of Lampern Hill near Uley, giving him the win by 12 seconds from Morgan Curle (Rogue Racing) while Nicole Coates (Performance Cycles) was top woman with 6-10.
And they both repeated the feat on Sunday, Feather and Coates winning again in the Somerset RC climb of Cockercombe Road near Plainsfield.
The tough Winter’s Gibbet climb in Northumberland was mastered by Marcus Cram (Blaydon CC) and Hannah Farran (Team Boompods).
Cram clocked 6-55.1 for the 2.2-mile climb near Elsdon, while Farran’s time of 8-49.4 gave her the win.
Reigning National Champion Fiona Burnie (GS Metro) slashed more than a minute off the ten-year-old course record, while David Fellows (Solihull CC) was fastest male in the Border City Wheelers CC event on Hartside in Cumbria.
And Dan and Jessica Evans crossed the line as top man and woman in the VC Cumbria hill-climb on Saturday afternoon near Braithwaite, Cumbria.
