Photo: The National 12-Hour Championships takes centre stage in this weekend’s time trialling action, with half-day specialists taking part in the title race in Norfolk on Sunday.
The first riders in the CC Breckland promotion are off at 6am, with some of the country’s top riders down to take part.
Charles Mitchell (a3crg) will be targeting the win having a personal best of around 310 miles, while not far behind him are team-mate Stephen Williamson and Derek Parkinson (Springfield Financial).
The women’s event has a field stacked full of talented riders, with the Drag2Zero ladies of Liz Powell and Vicky Gill going for the win. But National 24-Hour Champion Christina Murray (Army Cycling), while others to watch include Crystal Spearman and Katja Rietdorf (both Born to Bike) as well as Pip Jenkins (Southborough & Dist Wh).
The headquarters is at Hingham, and the course takes riders on roads between Croxton and Wymondham.
Elsewhere, the Oxonian CC 50-mile event near Kingston Bagpuize in Wiltshire has a field including the record-breaking tandem pairing of Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott.
In Essex, Paul Hart (Southend Wheelers) is the last man off in the Colchester Rovers CC 50 near Great Bromley on Sunday.
And at the other end of the country, the North Tyneside Riders four-up 19-mile event near Stannington has attracted a good field of riders.
The GS Metro quarter of Carl Donaldson, Ross Walton, Danny Grieves and Ben Lane are last to go, while before them the Team Swift outfit of Richard Sharp, Graham Crammond, Lewis Timmins and Gemma Frost could also challenge for the podium.
Of the all-female teams, Blaydon CC’s Joanne Rea, Gemma Hutchins, Venda Louise Pollock and Carrie Brookes should be hard to beat.
The Welsh 10-Mile Championship is being staged by Pontypool RCC near Abergavenny.
George Evans (Team Bottrill) is last man off, while others to watch include Tom Ward (AeroLab Ward Wheelz), Will Bevan (Ross on Wye & Dist CC) and Matt Burden (73 Degrees Bicycles).
Second last year, Stephanie Post (Team Bottrill0 will be looking to go one better and add to her 2019 Welsh 25 Champion title when she rides the championship race on Sunday.
Other women who have glory in their sights include reigning champion Anna Morris (AeroLab Ward Wheelz) and Jessica Rhodes-Jones (AeroCoach).
In East Yorkshire, the Yorkshire 10-Mile Championship takes place near Gilberdyke, where last man off is Rockingham CC’s Richard Dean, while VC York triathlete Philip Graves is off a minute before him. Fiona Sharp (Team Swift) and Sarah Lewthwaite (Team SportsLab) are among the women’s entries.
Other events on Sunday include the East Sussex CA 100, the Medway Velo Club 50 in Kent, and the Charlotteville CC 25 near Longmoor in Hampshire.
