Photo: Karen Ledger and Andy Jackson were crowned VTTA National 50-Mile Champions on Saturday as the title race took place near Seaton Ross in East Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson (AeroCoach) finished with an overall time of 1-45-09 and with a +31-50 to finish as the fastest male on standard.
Karen Ledger (Ace Test Team) finished with an overall time of 1-56-33 and with a +33-00 to clinch the top step on the podium as fastest overall female. She was awarded the Curtis Cup as she achieved the best time on standard across the whole championship.
Elsewhere, Alice Lethbridge and Tim McEvoy ran out winners at the Eastern Counties CA 100-mile time trial in Cambridgeshire on Sunday morning.
Lethbridge, the 34-year-old Drag2Zero rider from Epsom in Surrey, clocked 3-44-22 to win the women’s event by almost nine minutes. And McEvoy (Lanhydrock Wheelers) was the fastest male rider, clocking a time of 3-24-41 to win by almost two minutes from former 50-mile national record holder Paul Hart (Southend Wheelers).
And a new 100-mile team competition record was set by the Arctic Aircon RT trio of Neil Lauder, Nick Clarke and Jonathan Shubert. Their time of 10-25-56 sliced just 14 seconds from the old record.
In Hampshire James Boyman (Hoops Velo) was quickest solo rider in the Alton CC 10 near Bentley with a time of 19-41, while Claire Emons (Newbury RC) was quickest of the women with 23-22.
Rachael Elliott (Newbury RC) and Ian Greenstreet (AeroCoach) clocked an impressive 18-53 in the tandem event.
At Newton Mearns in Scotland the Glasgow United CC 10 on Sunday was won by Douglas Watson (GTR Return to Life) with 20-46, while Alexandra Michnowicz was the best of the women.
In Devon Conrad Moss (NOPINZ) won the Alltrax 25 near Buckfastleigh. His time of 49-50 giving him the win by more than three minutes, while top woman was Rose Willis with 1-03-11.
Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) was crowned the North Lancs TTA 50-mile champion with a winning time of 1-43-05 in the VTTA Lancs and Lakes 50 near Braithwaite in Cumbria. He was 1-22 ahead of Richard Bickley (Border City Wheelers) in second, while fastest female was Erica Booth (Lancashire RC) with 1-59-36.
In Northumberland in-form Adam Wild (GS Metro) set a new course record for the M254 near Ponteland as he won the Houghton CC 25 on Sunday.
He clocked 50-50 to take 1-17 off the old mark, while the fastest female on the day was Fiona Burnie (GS Metro) with 1-01-09.
And in Derbyshire, there was a hill-climb near Whaley Bridge staged by Eat Plants not Pigs CC. James Gelsthorpe (Velo-One CT) was fastest in 13-33 for the 7.1-kilometre climb, while top female was the promoting club’s Natalie Stevenson in 16-39.
