Photo: Bishop Auckland host their annual 40.5-mile mountain time trial in County Durham on Sunday morning, one of several time trials across the country which have attracted good fields of quality riders.
Former women’s national 10-mile competition record holder Anna Turvey (Drag2zero) is down to ride the event from Barnard Castle to Stanhope and back, while reigning national hill-climb champion Fiona Burnie (GS Metro) also rides.
And chasing victory in the men’s event is Philip Graves (NOPINZ), along with Nick Latimer (B38-Cycles in Motion) and the winner of the opening round of the Sigma Sports Classic Series Adam Wild (GS Metro).
Elsewhere, Saturday’s Burton and District CA 25-mile event near Etwall in Derbyshire has also attracted a good field, with Andy Jackson (AeroCoach) and Leon Wright (Race Hub) likely to feature in the battle for podium places as they head to Uttoxeter and back on the A25/11.
The Barton Wheelers 10 on Saturday sees Daniel Barnett (Team Bottrill) and John Brearley (Squadra RT) compete, while in the Stratford CC 10 near Dunnington in Warwickshire a large field of more than 100 riders includes several of Team Bottrill’s top names including Adam Jarps and Mark Bottrill. And of the 21-strong women’s entry, Liz Powell (Drag2zero) is the top name.
Looking at in-form female riders, Megan Dickerson (Bristol South CC) takes part in the Bath CC 10 on Sunday in search of her eighth open victory in eight rides this season. Having sliced almost a minute off her 10-mile personal best already this season, the youngster will be going for another good performance.
In the North West, Kent Valley RC are promoting a 28.5-mile time trial near Sedbergh in Cumbria, with a challenging course waiting for the riders as they tackle the Circuit of Wild Boar Fell.
Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) is the last man off, while others to note include Paul Fleming (Preston Wheelers) and Toby Williams (Velotik RT).
Bynea CC are holding a tough 30-mile time trial near Llandovery on Sunday morning with Philip Tucker (Cycle Specific) being the last man off, while Tim McEvoy (Lanhydrock Wheelers) is last man off in the Giant Helston 10 on Sunday. He’ll be looking to repeat his performance in the Lanhydrock Wheelers 25 last month, which he won.
The fastest female in the Lanhydrock Wheelers event too, Rose Willis (St Austell Wheelers) is also down to ride the Giant Helston 10 this weekend which takes place near Tresillian.
And in Kent, the Kent CA 25 has attracted riders of the quality of Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) as well as his brother Nick Fennell (Thanet RC) and Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Aerosmiths).
The junior winner of the first round of the Sigma Sports Classic Series, Fabien Large (Nopinz) is down to ride too, as well as Charmaine Pullen (Folkestone Velo Club).
