Photo: In-form David Janes (Wheels of Dorset) is the last rider off at the Swindon Road Club and Swindon Wheelers Western TTA hardriders 31-mile event on Sunday.
With two wins from his two rides so far this season, 37-year-old Wiltshire-based Janes won the Gillingham and District 19 as well as the Frome and District 10 recently, leaving him as the man to beat in Sunday’s event on the U871 course north of Sutton Benger.
Other names to watch include Felix Wilkinson (Velo Club Montpellier) as well as Canyon dhb roadman Max Stedman, who turns out in the colours of HuntBikeWheels.com.
Among the women tackling the event are Storey Racing’s Chanel Mason, as well as Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles) and Christina Murray (Army Cycling).
Elsewhere, the East Sussex CA hardriders 15.1-mile event has attracted a good field to tackle the GS895 course near Bodle Street Green in East Sussex on Sunday.
With just six open time trial appearances in 2018, James Boyman (Hoops Velo) is the last man off, while just one minute before him is Neil Lauder (Arctic Tacx).
The women’s entry includes talent such as Joscelin Lowden (The Independent Pedaler) and Pip Jenkins (Southborough and District Wheelers).
In Lancashire, the Lancaster CC stage a hilly 21-mile event on Sunday morning.
Ribble Pro Cycling’s Simon Wilson is the last man off, while elsewhere in the field are Paul Fleming (Preston Wheelers), Alex Royle (Manchester BC) and Derek Parkinson (Springfield Financial).
Jan Scotchford (North Lancashire RC) and Charlotte Boothman (ABC Centreville) are among the ladies down to ride the challenging course from Caton up to Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria, before heading down through Arkholme and the Forest of Bowland.
There’s also a hilly event in Essex, with the Maldon and District CC staging an 18-mile event near Woodham Walter.
The event has attracted a good mix of riders, including Felix Barker (ActiveEdge RT), James Sherwood (Orwell Velo) and Gill Carter (Essex Roads CC) who was fastest female in 2017.
In Hampshire, Tornado Road CC are staging a 10-mile event near Bransgore, with categories for both time trial machines and road bikes.
Names to watch out for in the time trial category include Kirsty McSeveney (a3crg) as well as Simon Berogna (VC St Raphael), while the road bike event has attracted Dave Dent (GS Stella) as well as Bryce Dyer (AeroCoach).
And on Saturday, the West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club are hosting a 21-mile event near Risby in Suffolk.
Top names to watch there include Daniel Bloy (Team Velovelocity) and his team-mate Stuart Fairweather, while Leon West (CC Sudbury) could also challenge.
