Photo: Welsh 100-mile champion Kieron Davies (Drag2zero) added the 30-mile title to his palmares with victory in the event near Raglan on Saturday.
The 31-year-old from Carmarthenshire clocked 57-34 to take the 2018 title by 1-16 from David Janes (Wheels of Dorset), while the women’s Welsh title went to Stephanie Post (Team Bottrill-Vanguard) with 1-06-14.
Elsewhere, Gary Chambers (NOPINZ) broke the course record for the P901/25 near Walberton in East Sussex when he clocked 49-38 to win the Southdown Velo 25 by a whopping 3-25 from Paul Jones (Primera TeamJobs).
Angela Carpenter (a3crg) was also a convincing winner of the women’s event, with 58-11.
Also over 30 miles, the CC Breckland event in Norfolk saw some fast times recorded, and the 37-year-old tricycle team competition record fell to the Lincoln Wheelers trio of Ian Pike, Dan Linstead and Andy Newham who combined with 3-39-03 to slice 8-41 from the 1981 previous best set by South Bucks Road Club.
In the solo competition, Becky Murley (Wisbech Wheelers) was fastest woman with 1-09-08, while fastest man was Ben Stancombe (Team Velovelocity) with 59-57.
In hill climbing, the Lovelo Racing event near Whipsnae on Saturday morning saw Jacintha Hamilton-Love and Richard Gildea take victories.
Hamilton-Love (Dulwich Paragon CC) clocked 3-25.9 for the Bedfordshire course, winning the women’s category by almost 13 seconds from Helen Frater (Islington CC). And Gildea (Didcot Phoenix) covered the course in 2-26.1, winning by just 2.7 seconds from Orwell Velo’s Chris Crabtree.
Beacon Wheelers staged a hill-climb on the same morning, using the climb of Great Dunn Fell in Cumbria.
And the course record fell to Ilkley CC’s Andy Cunningham with 23-03, while Alexandra Kendall-Smith (Crimson Performance) was top woman.
GS Metro riders scooped the prizes for fastest male and female riders in their club’s own hill-climb at Hedley on the Hill in Northumberland.
The scene of last year’s national championship, the course was covered by junior Thomas Prentice in 4-27.3 to take the overall win by 2.1 seconds from Colin Atkinson (Muckle CC), while Fiona Burnie (GS Metro)
was fastest woman in 4-59.4.
In Gloucestershire, Ollie Morgan (Team Echelon) was quickest up the Dovers Hill climb near Weston sub Edge to win the Stratford CC event. He won by just 0.1 seconds from Cameron Biddle (Halesowen A&CC), while Anabell Orenz (North Cotswold CC) was quickest of the women with 5-24.9.
In Derbyshire, Hardwick Hall provided a spectacular backdrop for the Bolsover and District CC hill-climb, and it was Calum Brown (Team B38-Underpin Racing) who proved quickest in 1-20.0, winning by exactly two seconds from team-mate Andy Nichols.
In-form Emilie Verroken (Maxx RT) was fastest female in exactly two minutes, giving her the win in that category by four seconds.
