Photo: Saturday see’s the National Youth (GHS) Championship final with 148 riders on the start sheet having qualified through their respective district heat. Caitlin Peters is the last female facing the start timekeeper at number 130 (start time 16:10) and the last rider off at number 150 (16:30) is Jacob Reid (Solihull CC). The course is the B10/3A and event HQ being Morley Village Hall, Wymondham, NR18 9SU open from 12.30pm.
Hundreds of time triallists head to South Wales on Sunday for one of the last chances this season to record a fast 25-mile time on the R25/3h near Rhigos.
The Port Talbot Wheelers event has attracted more than 240 entries as people aim to make the most of one of the best courses in the country over that distance.
The men’s field has Harry Tanfield (Cleveland Wheelers) as the last man off and pre-race favourite, while among the 31 women who are riding Alice Lethbridge (Drag2zero) is the fastest on paper.
One of the men who you might’ve expected to see eating up the miles in South Wales is Marcin Bialoblocki (NOPINZ), the competition record holder and in-form Polish rider from Bridgwater.
However, he chooses to tackle the Mid-Devon CC 25-mile event near Buckfastleigh instead.
Elsewhere, David Janes (Wheels of Dorset) looks likely to win the Chippenham and District Wheelers 50 near Malmesbury in Wiltshire on Sunday, while over the same distance Stuart Travis (Team Bottrill) is the man to beat at the Kingston Phoenix 50 at Bentley in Hampshire.
Lennoxtown in Scotland is the venue for the Glasgow Wheelers 25 on Sunday, where it’s hard to see beyond the GTR-Return to Life team dominating. Chris Smart is the last man off, while just a few minutes before him is in-form Douglas Watson. Espoir Adam Wild (GS Metro) could be one to watch too.
The hill-climb season is springing into life, and the North Tyneside Riders are promoting a two-stage event on Sunday on Winter’s Gibbet and Bilsmoor.
Vitus Pro Cycling pro and former national hill-climb champion Adam Kenway is the last man off.
And the East Lancs Road Club also hold a two-stage, near Blackstone Edge, Littleborough, on Sunday.
The reigning national hill-climb champion, Dan Evans (ASSOS Equipe UK) is last man off and undoubtedly favourite, while his wife Jessica Evans (ASSOS Equipe UK) will be going for the women’s prize, along with Anna Weaver (NJC-Biemme).
Ilkley CC’s Andy Cunningham is last man off at the Border City Wheelers hill-climb on Sunday, staged on the 5.3-mile Hartside climb near Melmerby, while Beacon Wheelers’ prolific rider Katie Lukas looks a likely bet for the women’s prize.
The Somerset Road Club’s hill-climb near Painsfield has Joe Norledge (Bristol South CC) as last rider to start at 10.33am, while others to watch include Glyndwr Griffiths (73 Degrees CC).
Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles) is last female off, but there are some interesting names elsewhere in the field including Blaydon CC’s Joanne Rea, who has been in good time trialling form recently.
Norledge, Griffiths and Jago are also down to ride Saturday’s Dursley Road Club hill-climb on Lampern Hill in Gloucestershire, where other names to watch include Andrew Kirby (73 Degrees CC).
