Photo: Andy Jackson (AeroCoach) and Crystal Spearman (NOPINZ) were crowned National 24-Hour champions after the day-long title race near Farndon, Cheshire, last weekend.
Jackson, 42, covered an impressive 530.61 miles to win by almost 25 miles, while Spearman covered a provisional 445.80 miles to win the women’s title by around 23 miles.
Elsewhere, Marcin Bialoblocki (NOPINZ) added the 50-mile record to his growing list of achievements when he clocked 1-30-31 to win the Shaftesbury CC 50 in Cambridgeshire on Sunday morning.
The Bridgwater-based Pole won the event by more than five minutes from runner-up Matthew Smith (Drag2zero), while Adam Duggleby (Vive le Velo) was another 30 seconds back in third.
Alice Lethbridge (drag2zero) was fastest woman, setting a new personal best time of 1-46-32 despite having an altercation with a car with just seven miles to go. Thankfully, she survived relatively unscathed.
In Sussex, Dave Dent (GS Stella) won the Southdown Velo 50 near Fontwell, clocking 1-51-21 to win by around three minutes from Nigel Sign (Fareham Wheelers), while Naomi Shinkins (Bournemouth Cycleworks) was first woman with 2-07-45.
Pat Wright enjoyed a double winning weekend, the 33-year-old Paceline RT rider won Saturday’s Addiscombe CC 10 before going on to win the Southern Counties CU 100 on Sunday by around nine minutes from Mark Smith (Crawley Wheelers), while first female was Lenka Vackova (Rapha CC).
In Northumberland, espoir Adam Wild (GS Metro) was victorious in the Barnesbury CC 25 near Bedlington. He clocked 50-41 to win by around 20 seconds, while Gemma Frost (Team Swift) secured another win in the women’s category with a time of 59-16.
In was a double winning weekend for Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) who was victorious in the VTTA Kent 10 on Saturday as well as the Medway Velo hilly 22 on Sunday.
On both occasions he beat his brother Nic into second spot.
Fastest woman in the VTTA Kent 10 was Pip Jenkins, while in Sunday’s Medway Velo event it was the promoting club’s own Karen Florey.
Simon Beldon (Team Bottrill/Vanguard) took his 12th victory of the season and came seven seconds short of the course record in the Rossington Wheelers 25, while Fiona Sharp (Team Swift) won the women’s event.
In Lancashire, Philip Jones (Transition RT) won the Lancashire Road Club 25 on Sunday, adding to the victory he secured in the previous evening’s Chorley CC 10. Charlotte Boothman (ABC Centreville) was fastest female in the Lancashire RC event at Garstang on Sunday, while Jess Atkinson (Cambridge Univ CC) was quickest in the Saturday night event.
And in Hertfordshire, Harry Tanfield (Cleveland Wheelers CC) was the only rider to go under 20 minutes as he took another victory at the Islington CC 10-mile time trial, while Sophie Lankford (Cardiff Ajax CC) won the women’s category.
