Ben Stowe (Arctic Tacx RT) held off last year’s winner to take victory in the Hemel Hempstead CC 21.5-mile time trial in Hertfordshire on Sunday morning.
Clocking a time of 51.07, Stowe held off 2017 victor Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon CT) by just nine seconds, while national 24-hour champion Michael Broadwith (Arctic Tacx RT) was third, another 45 seconds adrift.
There was a clear victory in the women’s category, with Cycle Team OnForm’s Anna Henderson clocking 57.17 to win by around two minutes.
There was also a road bike category with no TT specific aero kit allowed and this was won by Roy Chamberlain (Team Corley Cycles) with second place going to Seam Meager (Verulam CC) a minute behind Chamberlain.
In Cumbria, Claire Swoboda and Tom Rigby were fastest woman and man respectively as Border City Wheelers staged a sporting 20-mile time trial near Lazonby.
Swoboda, the VC St Raphael veteran, clocked 55.58 to win the women’s category by 59 seconds from ABC Centreville rival Charlotte Boothman.

Second last year, Keith Murray (Drag2zero) went one better to win the Teesdale CRC 21-mile event in County Durham – despite being almost three minutes slower than in 2017 when he was beaten by former national champion Ryan Perry.
On this occasion he beat Glen Turnbull (Harrogate Nova CC) into second finishing in 48.33, followed in third by Jonathon Robinson (Army Cycling Union) in 48.53.

Liv CC teenager rider Georgi covered the course in 22.24 to edge to victory in the women’s category by just three seconds from Stephanie Post (Team Bottrill).
And in Scotland GTR–Return to Life duo Arthur Doyle and Douglas Watson combined to great effect to win the Dooleys RT 2-Up 17 at Bishopton. They completed the course in 33.40 – 1.20 quicker than second-placed pairing of Ewen MacGillivray and Peter Ettles of RT 23.
