After spending 2016 on the CTT 3 month scholarship program I was successful in securing a place with a dutch club team called Swabo Ladies for 2017 and was funded by David Rayner and what a year it has been. After a eventful and successful year I am moving on to a UCI team in 2018! I have attached a article and very happy for CTT to use it. I am very grateful for all the help CTT has given me over the years and look forward to seeing everyone at races in 2018.
Henrietta becomes a professional Cyclist in 2018 at Bizkaia Durango
Henrietta Colborne will make the next step in her cycling career next season. The British talent signed a professional contract with the Spanish Bizkaia-Durango. Henrietta is looking forward to “embracing the Spanish culture and experiencing the different style of racing”.
Henrietta Colborne took her first steps in Elite cycling with SwaboLadies.nl in 2017. The nineteen-year-old rider showed “very good legs” this season. In both criteriums and UCI competitions she was regularly placed in the top ten, these performances means she can now take the next step to becoming a professional UCI rider.
"The step to Bizkaia-Durango gives me the opportunity to develop myself in the World Tour races," explains Henrietta. "I am looking forward to riding at the highest level in order to achieve even more progress." Given her good relationship with my teammates and staff, the choice was not an easy one. "My time at SwaboLadies.nl has been great," Henrietta looks back on the past season. "The guidance was always ready for me whether a race went well or badly. The team helped me get the best out of myself. "
Colborne achieved several top 20 rankings in UCI races this season, including a 6th in a stage classification in the mountainous 6 day race in France called the Tour de l'Ardeche. It was not only the high level of racing that drained the riders of energy but the constant heat of over 30 degrees and the mountainous terrain including multiple 20-30 km climbs in stages as long as 130km. She also knows how to ride different types of racing as Henrietta raced the Belgian criterium season winning the prestigious race in De Pinte.
