About the Welsh Cycling Association

In the late 1920s, individual cycling clubs in South Wales, such as Acme Wheelers and Glamorgan Road Club, organised Open 12 Hour events. By the early 1930s, these clubs found it challenging to manage such events independently due to limited resources. This led to the formation of the South Wales Cycling Association, primarily to promote these events collaboratively. The organisation later became the Welsh Cycling Association to better represent the inclusion of clubs from North Wales. Today, the Welsh Cycling Association serves as the governing body for all Welsh Championship Time Trials, conducted under Cycling Time Trials regulations. While time trialling has evolved significantly since its early days, the core principles remain unchanged. The support and dedication of volunteers and helpers continue to be as vital now as they were then.

Yn y 1920au hwyr, roedd clybiau seiclo yn Ne Cymru, fel Acme Wheelers a Glamorgan Road Club, yn trefnu digwyddiadau Agored 12 Awr. Erbyn y 1930au cynnar, roedd y clybiau hyn yn ei chael hi’n anodd cynnal y digwyddiadau hyn ar eu pen eu hunain oherwydd diffyg adnoddau. Felly, ffurfiwyd Cymdeithas Seiclo De Cymru i hyrwyddo’r digwyddiadau hyn gyda’i gilydd. Yn ddiweddarach, newidiodd yr enw i Gymdeithas Seiclo Cymru i gynnwys clybiau o Ogledd Cymru’n well. Heddiw, Cymdeithas Seiclo Cymru sy’n rheoli holl Bencampwriaethau Treial Amser Cymru o dan reolau Cycling Time Trials. Er bod treialon amser wedi newid llawer ers y dyddiau hynny, mae’r egwyddorion sylfaenol yn dal i fod yr un. Mae cymorth gwirfoddolwyr a chefnogwyr mor hanfodol nawr ag y buont erioed.
