David Parkin (Velotik Racing Team) and Lucy Rogers (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) took victories and the men’s and women’s events at the Dukinfield CC 50 - Brian Clayton Memorial time trial.

Parkin, aged 36, has been in fine form already this season and recorded a winning time of one hour, 45 minutes and 51 seconds – over four minutes clear of his nearest competitor.

The J4/9 saw competitors complete three-and-a-three-quarters laps of a 13-mile course in Cheshire. The triangle-shaped course started near Cranage before crossing over to Northwich and then down to Middlewich before completing a lap.

Parkin has already won the Manchester Wheelers 10, Manchester Bicycle Club 10 and North Lancashire Road Club 10 events this season and completed his winning run.

“It went really well, the weather was pretty good although I did get some rain on the second lap,” said Parkin.

“The temperature was fine and the wind was also fine. I did the first lap hard and the next lap quite easy so I could give everything on the last lap.

“I knew I was ahead of my target and I was really surprised with my finishing time. I thought I had gone out too hard on the first lap and I realised my average speed.

“It’s my fifth win of the season, so it’s going alright. I’m targeting the Cheshire points series and this event was part of that, so it was good to get the win.

“There is also a 100-mile and 12-hour event in the series, so it’s going to be tough.”

Ben Goodwin (Fibrax Wrexham RC) led the close battle for second behind posting a time of 1-50-16 which was 22 seconds faster than Dan Elliot (TricentralUk) 1-50-38.

Elliot was also part of the winning team alongside Tony Cullen (1-51-31) and Daniel Lanigan (1-54-30).

Meanwhile, the quickest rider on handicap was Jarod Garrington (Velotik Racing Team) with his time reduced to 1-25-47.

In the women’s event Rogers took a convincing victory with her time of 2-02-06 over five minutes clear of her nearest rival.

The 55-year-old also took the overall victory for fastest veteran on age adjusted time with her impressive performance.

Joanna Cebrat (360cycling) won a close battle for second clocking 2-07-39 which was 15 seconds quicker than Jessica Denman (Ilkeston Cycle Club) in 2-07-54.

The handicap event was won by Jarod Garrington (Velotik Racing Team) with his time being reduced to 1-25-47.

Mark Lovatt (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) was the quickest road bike stopping the clock in 1-53-40 ahead of Stephen Wilkinson (Team Wheelguru) in second (2-14-21), while Paul Birkin (Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles) finished third 2-20-02.

Laura Tring (360cycling) was the quickest woman road bike in 2-18-24 ahead of Margaret Docking (Ruthin Cycling Club) in second (2-45-06).
