James Jenkins (Richardsons – Trek RT) and Catherine Pinchen (Greenwich Tritons Tri Club) were the fastest male and female riders on scratch at the VTTA Kent Group 10, while Myles Davidson (Bigfoot CC) was the quickest veteran on adjusted time.

Jenkins, aged 24, won five open time trails from six events last season and opened his account for 2023 with a convincing display – posting a winning time of 20 minutes and 10 seconds.

The Q10/24 course saw competitors compete on an out and back course between the Isle of Grain along the A228 to the Fenn Street roundabout.

Riders were competing against a strong wind but were greeted by a sunny afternoon with no rain to dampen spirits.

Last season Jenkins posted a personal best time of 17-42 on the E2/10 course in the ECCA 10 and was the only rider to beat the 21-minute mark this time out.

Myles Davidson (Bigfoot CC) was the big winner of the day finishing second overall, but also the quickest veteran on scratch (22-10) and adjusted time (21-20).

A close battle for the prizes saw fellow veteran Paul Turton (Team Vision Racing-Silverhook) finish just 10 seconds behind Davidson on scratch time in 22-20 and adjusted time (21-30).

There was also a veteran team on adjusted time with two riders counting – won by Mark Vowells and Tom Richardson (San Fairy Ann CC) with a combined time of 47-09.

In the women’s event first starter Pinchen (Greenwich Tritons Tri Clun) posted the fastest time on scratch stopping the clock in 38-44.
