Laura Pittard

Laura Pittard earned a dramatic victory as fastest woman at the Tetbury Velo 10 on Sunday morning while Jake Sargent was named fastest male in a highly competitive men’s event.

Brother UK - Team OnForm rider Pittard finished in 23-19 to beat Carly Helyar (Wellington Wheelers Cycling Club) by just two seconds with Lindsey Lyes (The Ark Cycles) another two seconds back in 23-23 while Swindon Wheelers’ Jo Spencer finished fourth in 23-27.

First veteran in the 60-64 category was claimed by Joanna Knight in 26-33 and Arja Scarsbrook was fastest veteran 70-79 in 25-18.

There was further drama in the men’s event, with Sargent (FTP Race Team) the clear winner in 19-01 but just four seconds separating riders from second to fifth.

Army Cycling’s Jeremy Radford was runner-up in 20-03 to pip Haydn Jones (AS Test Team) by just a second, with one second also separating Jones and Oliver Bridgewood (Bath Cycling Club) who finished in 20-05, ahead of fifth-placed Ben Jones of Portishead Cycling Club who set 20-07.

Sargent continued his stunning form and now has nine wins from ten time trials this season, having won the National 100-mile National Championship on July 7 and placed third at the National 25-mile National Championship in June.

There was also success for Tony Chapman as first veteran in the 50-54 category with 20-28, while a time of 21-11 helped Rob pears secure the 55-59 group and 60-64 went to Steven Cottington in 20-32.

Jake Sargent

This event, run on the U47R course, starts in Cricklade and heads northwest along the A419 past Latton and Cerney Wick until reaching Driffield Junction where riders encircle the junction and turn back southeasterly, passing Cerney Wick and Latton again before finishing just short of the start on Swindon Road.
