Charlie Tanfield (Saint Piran) was the only rider to break the 20-minute barrier on his way to victory in the VTTA (Yorkshire) 10, while Beth Grogan (Selby CC) won the women’s event following a close battle.

Youth competitor James Canham (Racing Team Dawson) did an impressive ride to win the road bike event by over a minute, while Marjorie Davison (Ravensthorpe CC) was quickest woman.

The VTTA 'Ice Breaker' TT was well attended despite wet and cold conditions.

Competitors battled out and back along the A168 from south of Boroughbridge to the turn at Moor Lane.

Tanfield, aged 27, was scratch rider having won all three of his open events last season.

The Saint Piran rider, who was tipped for victory by national rankings system provider Spindata, was in dominant form finishing over a minute-and-half quicker than his nearest competitor.

Under-23 competitor Joe Shillabeer (05/03) finished second in 20-07 and held the quickest time until Tanfield knocked him off top spot.

Meanwhile, quickest junior on scratch Toby Bush (Team Bottrill) opened his open time trial season with a commendable third place overall in 20-17.

In the women’s time trial event Grogan, aged 25, recorded her first open time trial victory of the season stopping the clock in 25-43.

Seacroft Wheelers rider Angela Hannon-Flaherty pushed the winner all the way finishing just 12 seconds back in second (25-55), while Freya Johnson (Gosforth RC) was third (26-30).

Youth rider Canham, aged 15, was competing in his first open time trial and took a fine victory in the road bike event after setting a storming time of 21-58.

The battle for the remaining podium positions saw Joe House (VENTURE RACING) finish second in 23-05 and Chris Dyke (Team Lifting Gear Products) was third (24-31).

Ravensthorpe CC rider Davison won the women’s road bike event stopping the clock in 30-50 to finish ahead of Louise Watson (Bramley Wheelers CC) in second (31-35)

The tricycle race was won by Chris Goode (Yorkshire Coast Clarion CC) in 30-45, with the steel frame event winner being John Savage (Hull Thursday RC) in 30-15 and the fixed wheel event honours went to Chris Dugher (Selby CC) in 26-47.
