Harry Ives secured his first open time trial win in the men’s event as trainSharp dominated at the East Sussex Cycling Association 10-mile time trial on Sunday morning in East Hoathly, with Sally Turner won the women’s event.

All three podium spots – and five of the top six positions – were claimed by trainSharp riders in the men’s event, with Ives leading the way in 20-58 while Howard Shaw clocked 21-22 and James Bullen took third in 21-51.

The only rider to break the monopoly was Marek Siwicki, representing Addiscombe CC, who secured fourth place in 22-07, with Nathan Russell and Richard Gifford ensuring trainSharp claimed fifth and sixth.

Ives now has a time trial win to his name, having previously finished runner-up at the Brighton Mitre 10-mile time trial in May 2021 in what proved to be is previous best finish.

In the women’s event, HUUB WattShop rider Turner was fastest in 22-55, ahead of Ruth Shier (Hutchinson – Brother UK) in 23-53, while Lewes Wanderers CC member Kate Mankelow took the final podium spot in 24-12.

This event, run on the G10/87 course, starts just south of East Hoathly on the East Hoathly bypass and sees riders proceed southbound through Rowland Wood, then east to skirt Upper Vert Wood and southbound through Whitesmith and Golden Cross until reaching Lower Dicker, encircling the Horsebridge Roundabout before retracing the route to finish in East Hoathly.
