Tom Scorer (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) continued his unbeaten start to the season by taking victory in the St Piran/Northover Vets Team 10, incorporating the Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA Championship, while Lucia Borradaile (CC Weymouth) was the only woman competitor.

Veteran rider Scorer was Inter-Service 25-mile champion last season and added another title to his collection clocking a winning time of 20 minutes and four seconds – 33 seconds quicker than his nearest competitor.

The U30/10 saw competitors start and finish near Podimore in Somerset before heading out and back along the A303 to the turn at Tintinhull.

The 10-mile event was the first of two events on the same weekend forming the Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA Championship – with the 25-mile event the following morning.

Warm conditions greeted riders on Saturday evening for the 10-mile event with a headwind on the return leg for riders to battle against.

Scorer had an early mechanical which saw the 42-year-old drop his chain as he joined the A303.

He recovered from the problem and went on to record an average speed of over 29.9 miles per hour to take his fourth open time trial win of the season.

Junior rider Theo Anderson (Chippenham & District Wheelers) has shown his improvement already this season and led the battle behind taking second in 20-37 – after also finishing runner-up in Bath Cycling Club 10 last month.

Veteran rider Gavin MacDougall completed the podium positions stopping the clock in 21-01 after recording an average speed of over 28.5 miles per hour.

Borradaile was the only competitor in the women’s event and the 65-year-old, from Beaminster, posted a winning time of 25-29 – an average speed of 23.5 miles per hour.
