Dan Blake (ZeroBC Race Team) and Corrine Clark (Swindon Wheelers) were fastest male and female riders at the Oxonian CC 50-mile time trial in Oxfordshire on Sunday, while Drew Sheffield (Fulfil the Potential Racing) was quickest on a road bike.

Blake clocked 1-50-30 to take the win by 1-12 from Port Talbot Wheelers rival Ross Hamilton, with third spot going to Christian Geldard (North Hampshire Wheelers) with 1-55-12.

Clark clocked 2-05-06 to finish as fastest woman by just over two minutes from Ann Warren (Oxonian CC), with third being Kate Bradley (Born to Bike) with 2-22-28.

Drew Sheffield covered the H50/17 course near Kingston Bagpuize in 2-05-00 to win the road bike category by 55 seconds from Andrew Pollard (Cowley Road Condors), while juvenile Ben Cousins (Verulam-Really Moving) put in a strong ride of 2-20-28 to take third fastest road bike.

While finishing second overall in the women’s category, the promoting club’s Ann Warren was fastest veteran on age adjusted times in 1-50-24, 1-36 better than North Hampshire Road Club’s Christian Geldard, with Mark Dearden (Didcot Phoenix CC) third with 1-52-57.

The event used the popular H50/17 course which takes riders on the A420 from near Kingston Bagpuize south west through Littleworth, round Faringdon and turning at Watchfield.

Once back at Kingston Bagpuize the first time riders turn again and head back to Watchfield, and then finish their ride further up the road beyond Fyfield.

Blake’s time was just nine seconds faster than last time he rode this course in July 2022, when he finished third in the same Oxonian CC 50, with Hamilton finishing second back then too. He is next due to ride at the Hemel Hempstead CC 10 later this month.
