Primera-Teamjobs dominated proceedings at the Wightlink-Wright Mountain RT 3-up TTT over 25 kilometres finishing with the fastest two teams.

The scratch team of Joe Staunton, Thomas Day and Jordan Giles were the fastest of the Primera-Teamjobs outfits recording a time of 33 minutes and 46 seconds – over a minute faster than their team-mates and breaking last year’s course record of 34-00.

The PO55/25k saw riders compete on the fast A3055 along Military Road, near Yarmouth, before turning for home at the roundabout halfway up Blythe Shute.

A strong south-westerly wind meant that competitors were greeted with a tailwind on the outward leg and battled against a headwind on the return.

Giles recorded victory last month alongside Lucy Gadd at the Velo Club St Raphael 16.4 event and increased his tally in the three-up event.

He was again part of the winning Primera-Teamjobs team who were being pushed for victory by the home Wightlink Wight Mountain Race Team trio of James Veal, Kevin Chant and Elvis Belton.

However, Chant suffered a puncture of the home leg returning to the finish leaving his team-mates to finish the event as a duo which ruled them out of the results – despite clocking 34-39.

Their misfortune resulted in a one-two for Primera-Teamjobs as their team of George Skinner, Samuel       Wadsley and Martin Rowland finished runners-up in 34-51.

Rogue Racing won the battle for third with their trio consisting of James Coleman, veteran Tavis Walker and Charles Coleman stopping the clock in 36-59.

The quickest female rider Millie Williams and junior rider Billy Williams were paired together alongside veteran Sean Williams with the trio finishing in 44-22.

Isle of Wight Triathlon Club fielded the only all-female team with juvenile riders Annabelle Steward, Phoebe Heng and Maia Uren clocking 1-02-18.

The event also raised £100 for the Mountbatten charity.
