Adam Fisher went fastest to claim the first male prize at the A5 Rangers Cycling Club Janet Café Memorial hilly 17-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon in Northamptonshire.

Cambridge CC rider Fisher clocked 41-25 to lead the field, with Ilkeston CC’s Alex Hodgkinson second in 41-25 and a time of 43-56 helping James Richardson (North Bucks RT) to claim the final spot on the podium.

Fisher, who was also first veteran, will be delighted with victory in his first time trial of the 2023 season, and will hope to carry this high level of form into his next two events at the Lea Valley CC 25-mile time trial on May 6 and the VTTA London & Home Counties 10-mile time trial on May 7.

Fisher said: “I went there to win. It was a decent hilly course but it was fun to ride with the variation in it.

“It was a good event and I paced it really well, especially in the back end when it gets lumpy.

For the rest of the season I just want to enjoy it, get some personal bests and some veterans events now I’m a veteran.”

Runner-up Hodgkinson also took the prize as first senior with Richardson claiming the honours as second senior, while Pete Trotman and Duncan White, riding for the promoting club, were named as the fastest team from the field of 10 riders.

Th 17-mile event, run on course NC3, starts just north of Duncote and heads south before riders turn north through Fosters Booth on the A5, turning west around Weedon Bec, then at Dodford turning south through Farthingstone and Litchborough to finish just west of the start line.
