Oliver Peckover picked up a second consecutive win by finishing fastest male at the Melton Olympic Cycling Club 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon in Nottinghamshire, while fastest woman was Lindsay Clarke.

TrainSharp rider Peckover secured an impressive win in 18-06, ahead of Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) who clocked 18-40, while Team Ohten Aveas’ Richard Oakes took the final podium spot by finishing narrowly behind in 18-52.

This win maintains Peckover’s unbeaten start to the season having also triumphed at the Coalville Wheelers 10-mile time trial in Leicestershire on March 18, recording 20-33 over the course.

On his victory, Peckover said: “It’s all just come from a lot more consistency in training. In road racing I’ve also gone three from three so it’s a good start all round.”

“There is definitely more to come, it was a five-and-a-half-mile headwind on the way out so if the wind was the other way round I would have gone faster.

“I’ve entered the 10, 25 and 50-mile National Championships and the Closed Circuit Championships. I’m confident and want to get out there and race.”

In the women’s event, Clarke completed the course in 23-23, with the Fenland Clarion CC rider finishing 46 seconds ahead of runner-up Sally Maitland (Ratae RC) who clocked 24-09, while Elaine Simpson’s 24-33 helped the Nottingham Clarion CC member take third spot.

Elsewhere, Oakes was fastest veteran on standard in +8-20, ahead of the +7-53 set by Team Bottrill’s Tim Hood and Mike Twelves (Team Ohten Aveas) who recorded +7-29.

Hood enjoyed further success as part of the fastest team, alongside Josh Bush and Matt Stonley recording a cumulative time of 59-35.

This 10-mile event, run on the A10/3 course, starts just north of Romans Quarter and proceeds onto the A46, heading north until the Elston/Thorpe Junction where riders turn left and then left again to rejoin the A46 southbound and finish just west of Car Colston to complete the 10-mile circuit.
