Andrea Winkless

Alex Pritchard was fastest male while Andrea Winkless ensured success for the host club by winning the women’s event at the Coalville Wheelers CC 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon in Leicestershire.

HUUB Wattshop rider Pritchard clocked an impressive 20-40 to seal victory ahead of Matthew Bottrill (Team Bottrill) who finished in 21-09, while third place went to 360cycling’s Tristan Pilling in 21-37.

In his first race of the season, this marked a maiden solo time trial win for Pritchard, having won the Sheffrec CC 2UP time trial in 2019, while he managed a runner-up finish at the Hemel Hempstead CC 10-mile time trial on July 18 in his final race of the 2022 season.

In the women’s event, promoting club rider Winkless triumphed in 27-19, while a time of 27-42 was enough for Carolyn Chambers (North Argyll CC) to take the runners-up spot with Born To Bike – Bridgtown Cycles member Paula Fisher in third spot with 29-28.

Elsewhere, fastest male veteran overall was Ian King (Pedal Power Loughborough) in 23-31, with the promoting club achieving more success as the veteran female category was topped by Louise Richmond in 31-17, while Liam Flannery of Team PB Performance finished in 22-13 to win the Espoir/Junior/Juvenile grouping.

The 10-mile event, run on course A10/34, begins just north of Griffydam then heads north through Breedon Cloud Wood and onto the A543 over the Tonge Interchange and, upon reaching the junction with Moor Lane, riders turn southwest bound to proceed through Breedon-On-The-Hill and turning south onto Nottingham Road and just before reaching Lount take a left turn onto Melbourne Road.

After turning northbound onto B5324, riders then continue north until reaching the finish just north of Osgathorpe.
