Laura Pittard set a new women’s course record while Josh Newbould was fastest male at the Chippenham & District Wheelers 10-mile time trial on Sunday morning.

Brother UK – Team OnForm rider Pittard lowered Jo Buckland’s 2021 time of 23-58 to 23-47 on her way to a dominant victory, with 360VRT pair Liffey Daniels and Emma Dickson in second and third with times of 25-53 and 30-04 respectively.

In the men’s event, Newbould, of Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club, was quickest around the course in 20-56, beating Paul Jones (Primera-Teamjobs) who set 21-27 while the final podium spot was taken by Portishead Cycling Club rider Ben Jones in setting 21-37.

In the road bike category, Karl Norris ensured more success for 360VRT with a victory in 23-09, beating Velo Club Walcot’s Chris Leng who set 25-08 and a time of 27-45 helped Gordon Scott (CC Weymouth) to third place.

The tandem event was won by Ward WheelZ pair Chris Ward and Gillian Thorne in 25-43.

This event, run on the U41 course, starts just south of South Cerny and heads south before turning eastwards at Spine Road East towards Cotswold Water Park, crossing the double roundabout and heading towards and through Latton, then encircling the roundabout on the A419 and retracing the route along Cirencester Road to finish just before Clayhill Car Park.
