FTP Race Team enjoyed double success as Megan Dickerson and Jake Sargent were fastest female and male respectively in unpredictable conditions on Saturday afternoon.

Dickerson (FTP Tace Team) set a time of 23-04 to finish as fastest female, while University of Bath CC’s Alex Morrice recorded 23-13 for second place to beat Steph Clutterbuck (FTP Race Team) by one second.

With a gusting wind making life tricky for the 72 riders, Sargent clocked 19-36 to finish ahead of University of Bath CC’s Daniel Calle-Smith (20-14) and Dean Robson from Jersey Velo who managed 21-01.

The team prize, unsurprisingly, went to FTP Race Team trio of Sargent, Dickerson and Josh Griffiths, while the fastest tandem was Chris McDonald (PDQ Cycle Coaching) and Adam Duggleby (Chapeau! Vive le Velo) in 19-00.

A time of 24-31 helped Elizabeth Williams (Ark Cycles) claim the women’s V40 prize, while women’s V60 was Bristol South CC’s Joanna Knight in 27-05.

In the men’s event the fastest over-40 veteran was FTP Race Team’s Mike Davies in 21-13, while vet-50 went to Frome and District Wheelers’ Tony Chapman in 21-19 and Paul Winchcombe (Chippenham & Dist Wheelers) secured V60 honours with a time of 23-43.

The 10-mile route on the U7B course starts on the A38 approximately half a mile south of Newport, before proceeding north through Berkeley Road, over the railway bridges to the Slimbridge roundabout where riders turn and follow the route back south on the A38 and finish just before the start.
