Mark Walker and Karen Taylor took the honours as fastest male and fastest female respectively at Bramley Wheelers CC 10-mile time trial in North Yorkshire on Saturday morning.

Hull Thursday RC rider Walker finished at the top of the 20-rider field in 22-22 to see off second-placed Dave Diston (Muckle Cycle Club) who recorded 22-57 and Halifax Imperial Wheeler’s Blair Buss (23-11).

In the women’s event, Karen Taylor of Team Sportslab claimed victory in 26-52, while Velo Culture’s Sarah Foulds was runner-up in 27-37.

After finishing sixth at the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 10-mile time trial Points Series event in March, Walker went on to place eighth in the 10-mile City Road Club (Hull) in April before fifth at the Otley CC time trial.

He now has his first victory of the season and will hope to build on that at the Sheffrec CC 25-mile time trial on May 7.

Starting on London Road, the course heads southbound past Towton and through Barston Ash, then turning at the roundabout in Sherburn in Elmet and retracing the route northerly until turning left just before Towton and finishing on the B1217.
