Adam Duggleby led a podium clean sweep for the host club in the Vive le Velo 25, while Louise Scupham also brought home honours for the organising team in the women’s category.

Duggleby, from Leeds, broke his own course record on his way to winning the men’s event in a time of 49 minutes and 32 seconds and clinched the Clive Askwith Trophy.

The 37-year-old won the Vive le Velo 10 earlier this month and was again a victor on this occasion finishing exactly three minutes clear of his nearest competitor.

Taking place on the Yorkshire post the V433 saw riders start near Bridlington before traveling out and back on the A165 down to near Leven and then making the return journey with a little kick up to

David Brearley (Chapeau Vive le Velo) was a strong second recording a time of 52-32 while quickest veteran on scratch Darren Yarwood finished only ten seconds further behind (52-42) to complete a podium clean sweep.

In the women’s event Scupham (Jadan Vive le Velo) returned from a Covid-19 layoff and showed to have lost no form recording a winning time of 59-32.

Scupham, aged 24, also won the Vive Le Velo 10 on her last outing in 23-24 two weeks earlier and continued her winning form for the season.

Finishing second in the battle of the local bike shops was Natalie Curgenven (Cliff Pratt Racing) in 1-03-14 holding off Rebecca Mason (York Cycleworks) 1-03-41.

The medium gear event saw Jymmy Trevor (Jem Hadar Racing) take a clear victory completing the course in a time of 1-02-23.

Chris Dugher (Goole Vermeuden) finished second in the category clocking 1-08-50 while Lez Young (Lincoln Wheelers) was third in 1-19-25 on his medium gear trike.

The YCF road bike category was taken, once again by John Blomeley (Yorkshire RC) with a storming 58-42 from David Capes (Scarborough Paragon) with 1-08-55.
