Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) took his fifth victory of the season in emphatic fashion at the Border City Wheelers 20.2, while Carol Westmorland (Border City Whs CC) won the women’s event.

Veteran Bideau showed his power over the hilly course clocking a winning time of 46 minutes and seven seconds – 56 seconds faster than his nearest rival.

The hilly L202 saw riders complete two laps of the Lazonby Circuit which saw riders head out from Lazonby across to the A6 and down to Plumpton before heading back on the B6413 up to the finish at Lazonby.

The conditions were almost perfect for the event with riders greeted by a bright blue sky and virtually no wind. 

Bideau has thrived over the hilly courses so far this season winning the Pendle Forest, North Lancs RC, West Pennine RC and Rossendale RC events and he added a fifth win in emphatic style.

Using his local knowledge of the course Richard Nesfield (Beacon Wheelers) clocked 47-03 for second, matching his result in the Border City Whs 25 last summer.

David Huck (Barrow Central Wheelers) completed the podium positions with his time of 47-45 good enough for third overall.

In the women’s event veteran rider Westmorland took victory clocking a time of one hour, one minute and 41 seconds.

It was Westmorland’s second win of the season after also winning the Border City Whs 13.5 earlier this month.

She was pushed all the way by Jan Scotchford (North Lancashire Road Club) who finished 37 seconds back in 1-02-18.
