Humphries finished in 20-44 to beat Mapperly CC’s Ian Guilor by just one second, while Daniel Watts (Royal Air Force Cycling Association) was only three seconds further back in third.

Humphries, aged 38, from Merseyside, also won the Mersey Tri 10 earlier in the season clocking a winning time of 20-20 on that occasion.

In the women’s event Hutson-Lumb secured a more comfortable win in 23-50 ahead of Emma Serjeant (Hafren CC) who set 24-15, while third place went to Congleton CC rider Gail Lowe in 25-30.

Veteran rider Hutson-Lumb also won the WCTTCA 50 on her last outing and tasted success again this time out.

The event, on the D10/23R course, starts just north of Waters Upton in Shropshire and heads north along the A442 to Espley island near Hodnet at just over five miles before encircling the island and retracing the route past Peplow to finish 25 yards south of Sytch Lane.

The D10/23R course also hosted the Mid-Shropshire district heat of the National Youth Championship with a field of seven riders competing for a place in the finals.

Fastest junior went to Dolan Ellesse rider Joe Cosgrove in 20-53, while Alex Hart, riding for the promoting club Mid-Shropshire Wheelers, set a time of 23-46 to finish as quickest juvenile with Evelyn Field, in 24-53, the fastest female.
