SVTTA 15-mile TT success for Watson and McMillan

Douglas Watson triumphed as fastest male to win the Speed Family Trophy at the Scottish Veteran Time Trials Association 15-mile time trial in Stirling on Sunday, while Margaret McMillan was fastest female.

With the results decided on veteran-on-standard time, GTR-Return to Life p/b Stream rider Watson finished as fastest on scratch time in 30-02 but enjoyed a standard time of +10-16.

Second place was claimed by Dundee Thistle’s Alan Davidson with +8-41, narrowly ahead of Ian Dobbie (West Lothian Clarion) who finished on +8-35.

In the women’s event, Deeside Thistle member McMillan finished with +7-51 to win ahead of Christina MacKenzie (Stirling Bike Club) in +7-24 and Fiona Davidson, of Dundee Wheelers, in +6-03.

While Watson was also fastest scratch time, Dooleys RT rider Alastair McNicol and Marc Anderson (GTR Return to Life p/b Streamline) were joint second quickest on unadjusted time in 31-28, with Alexandra Ligeti (Vanelli Project GO) the fastest female in 36-09.

In the tandems category, Walden Tri pair Brooke Gillies and Alison Peasgood finished in 34-08 ahead of Isobel Fletcher and Allan MacLean (VC Glasgow South) who clocked 39-41.

This event, run on the WM15/01 course, start just east of Kersebonny Road and proceeds west until the Kippen roundabout, where riders retrace the route back along the A811 to finish just east of the start line.
