MacNeil and Wilson go fastest in Kennoway RC 2-up TTT 13

The Team Andrew Allan Architecture pair of David MacNeil and Angus Wilson went fastest in the Kennoway RC two-up team trial over 13 miles.

The Grand Prix De Gentleman event was, in memory of Archie Speed, and required one member of each team to be classed as a veteran rider.

MacNeil riding with veteran-50 age category rider Wilson covered the 13-mile course in a winning time of 27 minutes and 40 seconds.

The WE13/01 course saw riders start one-mile outside the village of Freuchie near Fife.

Riders completed a 13-mile loop incorporating the B937, then the A91, A918 and then the B936 with competitors battling for the Boomerang Trophy.

The Speed family have been involved in cycling in Scotland for over 75 years and Archie died nine years ago.

He was still actively time trialling at the age of 80 and still cycling in his mid-80s. Archie still holds the Scottish Veteran’s 24-hour record.

It was the first time that MacNeil had won an open time trial event while veteran Wilson last won at the Team Swift 12-hour in 2019.

Just eight seconds behind their winning Team Andrew Allan Architecture team-mates were Andy Auld and Stuart MacCallum who finishing in 27-48.

Meanwhile, the Kinross CC pair of Richard Sanderson and Tim Payne were third fastest in 28-53.

There were two mixed gender pairings with Anna Fairweather and Martin Harris (RT23) the fastest of them with the pair coming home in 34-00.

As well as being part of the quickest team Wilson (Team Andrew Allan Architecture) was also the quickest veteran on standard with his time equating to +7.40 and also won the Boomerang Trophy for the fastest SVTTA vet on standard.

MacCallum (Team Andrew Allan Architecture) was second veteran on standard with +6.58 while

Alan Davidson (Dundee Thistle) was third on standard +6.34.
