GTR - Return to Life p/b Streamline and Stirling Bike Club came away with the men’s and women’s honours from the Ayr Roads CC 3-up TTT which incorporated the Scottish championships.

The men’s winning team of Chris Smart, Douglas Watson and Daniel Cain recorded a winning time of one hour, one minute and 21 seconds over the 31.5-mile course.

The WW31/02 course saw riders complete two out and back laps along the A18 Irvine Bypass.

Teams started at the Eglington Country Park before rising to the turn at Troon and then completing the return leg.

The same course was also used for last year’s National Team Time Trial Championships when Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling posted a winning time of 54-01.

On that occasion the same GTR - Return to Life p/b Streamline trio placed fifth in 58-54.

Veteran rider Smart also won the Emergency Services Championships individual 10 and 25-mile championships earlier in July and helped GTR - Return to Life p/b Streamline to the men’s victory.

A close battle for the remaining podium places saw three teams separated by 10 seconds.

The Torvelo Racing trio clinched second with Basel Razouk, Murray Ferguson and Liam White all combining to finish in 1-03-49.

Finishing a further three seconds back in third place were Musselburgh RCC with their team consisting of Paul Davis, Andrew Scott and Bruce Wallace finishing in 1-03-52.

In a strong showing GTR - Return to Life p/b Streamline saw their second team finish fourth overall just seven seconds off the podium with Terry Wilkinson, William Bonar and Marc Anderson finishing in 1-03-59.

The women’s event was won by Stirling Bike Club with Katie Scott, Christina MacKenzie and Christine Fischer all combining to complete the course in 1-14-00.

Under-23 rider Scott was taking part in her first open time trial and came away with Scottish honours alongside her veteran team-mates.

Host club Ayr Roads CC had the only other women’s team with Aileen Fisher, Charlotte Stevens and Fiona Davidson completing the course in 1-18-06.
